Locate the failure

Describe the exact step that fails: accepting an invitation, entering a party, starting matchmaking, or loading the lobby. “Crossplay is broken” leaves out the detail support needs. Write down both platforms and the time of the attempt.

Try a controlled retry

Confirm that everyone has the available update installed, close and reopen the game, then recreate the party. Try changing the party leader once and record the outcome. These are general diagnostic steps, not a confirmed cure. Avoid repeatedly changing network settings when you do not yet know which stage fails.

Prepare a useful report

Include platform, version, error text and a short description of what happened. Use the support link on the official website. Never put passwords, account tokens or personal details in a public report. This page does not establish cross-progression or shared purchases; verify those separately before buying another copy.

Friend invitation or lobby failure: which screen changed?

Before retrying, have each person name their last successful screen: friend list, accepted invitation, party roster or match lobby. If one player appears in the party but disappears when the leader starts matchmaking, record that transition. If the invitation never arrives, record that earlier stage instead. Those are different symptoms, even when both players describe them as crossplay failing. Do not change account settings just because a later loading step failed.

A useful two-player comparison

Try the smallest group that still reproduces the issue. Keep the same two platforms and change one thing, such as which player leads, then compare the exact failure stage. If the smaller group works, add the remaining players one at a time. This is a diagnostic suggestion, not a supported-player-limit claim or a guaranteed fix. Stop changing variables when you have a repeatable example that support can understand.

Playing together and carrying progress are separate questions

Being able to join a match does not establish that purchases, unlocks or saves transfer between platforms. Before purchasing another copy or linking a different account, identify which feature you need and check its specific official support information. Keep a successful party test as evidence about joining only; it cannot verify cross-save, shared ownership or every platform combination.

Questions about this guide

Does the 1.0.1 party fix cover every invitation problem?

No. Its wording concerns party members following the leader into a matchmade lobby. An invitation that never arrives is a different stage to investigate.

Should I change every network setting before retrying?

No. Start by identifying the failed transition and make one controlled retry. Multiple simultaneous changes make the result harder to interpret.

Does crossplay mean I own the game on every platform?

No such ownership conclusion follows from crossplay. Check the store and account rules for the platform you intend to use.
